Come see PRIME CUT with CRIME FACTORY and CINECULT | The Crime Factory

10/05/2013 By Liam José

Melbournites! This Tuesday the 14th of May, CRIME FACTORY PRODUCTIONS is proud to be teaming up with CINECULT 303 for a screening of the insanity which is the Lee Marvin classic, PRIME CUT.

Come along, 7pm, at 303 High St, Northcote.

This film is batshit crazy in all the right ways, and gives you all the things you didn’t know were missing in your life until now. It’s like a teary reconcilliation with your father in filmic form.

Marvin plays Nick, a mob enforcer sent to collect debt from a crooked slaughterhouse operator called Mary Ann (Gene Hackman).

The following things ensue: people being literally turned into sausages; a bizarre human trafficking auction presented like a cattle auction; a recreation of the famous NORTH BY NORTHWEST plane scene, only now with a wheat thresher; and a young Sissy Spacek in the most inappropriate restaurant attire ever worn.

All that doesn’t even scratch the surface of this weird, hilarious, creepy and cool crime flick. Nothing can really prepare you for it. Somehow, by some mysterious, glorious means (ie. scroteloads of cocaine) some movie producers got this made. Do yourself a favour and check this one, and prepare for a month-long moisty afterwards.

For sale at the event will be Crime Factory Publications’ gonzo tribute to Lee Marvin, LEE – an anthology of stories telling the fictionalised life of one of the big screen’s greatest stars by one of the most insane arrays of talents we’ve ever had the pleasure of publishing (Scott Phillips, Heath Lowrance, Roger Smith, Johnny Shaw, Jenna Bass, Adrian McKinty, Jake Hinkson, Ray Banks, James Hopwood, Erik Lundy, Eric Beetner, Luke Preston, Nigel Bird, Ryan K. Lindsay, Andrew Nette, Cameron Ashley and Jimmy Callaway!)

As at all Cinecult events, gold coin donation is appreciated, unless you want to be turned into sausage.
