Crime Factory Publications launches FIERCE BITCHES and LEE | The Crime Factory

10/02/2013 By Liam José

On Sunday March 3rd, Crime Factory Publications lauch their two latest books, FIERCE BITCHES and LEE.

If you’re in Melbourne (and really, you should be. It’s pretty nice. We cohabit with robots. Also, Liam promises to buy you a beer if you move here), you should get down to the JOHN CURTIN BAND ROOM (29 Lygon St, Carlton, 3053) on Sunday March 3rd from 4pm.

The launch will be kicked off by Melbourne band GREEN’S DAIRY ANGEL ENSEMBLE, feature talks from Melbourne film historian DEAN BRANDUM and closed by wonderful SONS OF LEE MARVIN.

What are we launching? Glad you asked.

FIERCE BITCHES (click to pre-order, hunk), by Jedidiah Ayres, kicks off Crime Factory’s new Single Shot line of novellas.

What’s it about? Well, here’s what it says on the back of the book: ”Across the border lies Politoburg: hell on earth, home to putas, punks and psychos. Escape is not in the stars, redemption is not in the cards, but reckoning might just be on the menu. Stand back. The pit is about to spit something back out.”

Sounds pretty great, right? But, did you know – the inside bits of the book are even better! These cool cats certainly think so:

“Powerful stuff. Somewhere between Blood Meridian and Neil Smith’s Hogdoggin’.” — Allan Guthrie

“One of the most beautiful and ambitious pieces of noir I’ve read in a helluva long time.” — Spinetingler.com

“Nietzsche was right: When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares right back — and Jedidiah Ayres miraculously manages to write about it.” — J.I. Baker

“Righteous, phantasmagoric and funny, FIERCE BITCHES delivers a fuckload of biblical fury.” — David Whish-Wilson

“Jedidiah Ayres proves with FIERCE BITCHES that noir has a new prince…” — @OzNoir

And what else? LEE, our anthology of stories inspired by the life of iconic actor Lee Marvin. It’s got a pretty stellar line-up, with stories from Scott Phillips, Heath Lowrance, Johnny Shaw, Jenna Bass, Roger Smith, Adrian McKinty and a whole lot more.

“This collection of short fiction puts legendary actor Lee Marvin smack dab in the center of the action where he belongs.” — Dwayne Epstein

So, come on out, buddy! That’s right – we refer to you as “buddy”! CAN’T YOU FEEL THE UNDENIABLE LOVE AND CAMARADERIE? You know that hollow place inside your heart? Well, that essential Lacanian-void can be filled with these books. It’s true!

See you Sunday March 3rd, buddy!
